Click for a multimedia presentation as author H. W. "Bill" Brands* presents a worthy discussion of TR's belief in a strong body as well as a strong mind and how that belief shaped TR's life.

In 1905 TR laid the cornerstone of the Multnomah Athletic Club in Portland, Oregon. Brands delivered this address to commemorate the new permanent cornerstone exhibit.

Note Brands presentation begins at approx 12:00 and lasts about 50 minutes.

*H.W. Brands is the author of TR The Last Romantic.

What you see in the background is the original cornerstone of the 1911 building dedicated by TR and a photo in the exhibit case of TR giving his dedication address in front of the same stone, per the attached photo.
