Officer Richard A. Whitt
The Dallas TRA chapter on June 8 honored Dallas Police Officer Richard A. Whitt with its 16th annual Theodore Roosevelt® Police Award. On November 28, 2010, Officer Whitt received severe injuries from sniper fire when responding to a domestic violence call. After surgery and a grueling rehabilitation, he returned to the Dallas force within four months and has continued to distinguish himself as being highly motivated and always reaching out to help fellow officers. Stuart Bumpus and Elliot “Tony” Roosevelt, Jr. presented the award, sponsored by the Dallas Blue Foundation, at Dallas Police headquarters.
