Officer Travis Betley
The San Diego TRA chapter gave its third annual Theodore Roosevelt® Police Award on April 11, 2014 to San Diego Police Officer Travis Betley, age 24. On December 30, 2012 a drunk driver traveling at a high speed barreled through a traffic light and hit Officer Betley’s patrol car at the driver’s side door. First responders had to cut Officer Betley out of his demolished car. He experienced broken legs and internal injuries, but was able to rejoin the force after a series of surgeries and extensive rehabilitation. TRA member Melanie Bayless Veteto presented the award.
