The Dr. John A. Gable Theodore Roosevelt Association Legacy Society
The Theodore Roosevelt Association, a venerable organization chartered by the Congress of the United States in 1920, strives constantly, in the words of our Charter and our Vision Statement, “to perpetuate the memory and ideals of Theodore Roosevelt . . . for the benefit of the people of the United States of America and the world.” Now in our ninety-seventh year, our successes in this important endeavor are numerous and ongoing
In May 2004, Executive Director John Gable (now and permanently Director Emeritus) included these words in a long handwritten personal letter to his close friend Gregory Wynn: “Hermann Hagedorn [also now and permanently Director Emeritus] and others in that generation saw to it that there still was an Association when I was a boy. . . . I saw to it, with others, that there was a TRA during your lifetime up to now. It is up to you – and of course others – to see to it that the TRA is around for another fifty years.”
As we continue to do our best to preserve and to strengthen the TRA – to carry out the mission entrusted to us by Dr. Gable – we rely heavily on the financial support of our most dedicated members.
To help secure our future, we have recently established the Theodore Roosevelt Association Sustaining Benefactors Society, which is described on page 5 of the Fall 2016 edition of the Theodore Roosevelt Association Journal. And now we are announcing the establishment of the Dr. John A. Gable Theodore Roosevelt Association Legacy Society.
