Michelle A. Krowl

Civil War and Reconstruction specialist

Michelle A. Krowl is the Civil War and Reconstruction Specialist in the Manuscript Division at the Library of Congress. Dr. Krowl is the author of a number of books and articles on various historical topics, including “Theodore Roosevelt at the Library of Congress” (Theodore Roosevelt Association Journal, Volume XLII, Number 4, Fall 2021, pp. 7-29). She received a B.A. in History from the University of California, Riverside, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in History from University of California, Berkeley. She has worked as a library assistant at the Historical Society of Washington, D.C., as an assistant professor at Northern Virginia Community College, and as a research assistant for historian Doris Kearns Goodwin.
