The Theodore Roosevelt Association is dee-lighted! to announce the agenda for the 2024 TRA Symposium and Gala Awards Dinner and Cocktail Reception. Note that agenda is subject to change.

Thursday, October 17 – Early Arrivals Meet-Up


Informal Meet-Up at Columbia Club – Main Lobby/Bar, 6:00 PM throughout the evening. Early arrival attendees welcome to stop by to pick up their registration packets and have a drink with other attendees and TRA members.

Friday, October 18 – Rolling Chautauqua Tour & Welcome Reception

at Sheraton Hotel's Panorama Room on 10th Floor with guest speaker Robert Bowling who will talk about TR's visits to Indiana.

Bus Departs Sheraton Hotel and Columbia Club for Rolling Chautauqua Tour of sites TR visited on Memorial Day 1907:
Lawton Statue
TR dedicated the General Henry Ware Lawton statue now located at Garfield Park. Rod Sullivan, TRA member & Civil War history expert, will give a historical purview of General Lawton.

Fairbanks Mansion Historical Marker
The location of TR’s Vice President Charles W. Fairbanks who hosted a luncheon for TR that included dignitaries and friends of the time.  Original house no longer there; visit to subsequent house.

President Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site
President Harrison appointed Theodore Roosevelt as the U.S. Civil Service Commissioner. This was TR’s first federal position which he would maintain under two different Presidents.

Crown Hill Cemetery
Where Theodore Roosevelt laid a wreath on President Harrison’s tombstone and where VP Charles Fairbanks, his wife Cornelia and VPs Thomas A. Hendricks and Thomas R. Marshall are laid to rest.

Medal of Honor Memorial
Viewing of the only Congressional Medal of Honor Memorial in the United States, located on the Canal in downtown Indianapolis. President Theodore Roosevelt, his son TR Jr. and General Lawton are among recipients listed on the walls.
