
Teddy Bears For Kids In The Community
On November 14th, Navy Athletics celebrated the 123rd anniversary of President Theodore Roosevelt's famous November 14, 1902 bear hunt in Mississippi by hosting a Teddy Bear drive during the Navy Men's Basketball game against Washington College. The Midshipmen secured a decisive 97-64 victory, amplifying the festive atmosphere as fans donated plush bears to support the Theodore Roosevelt Association's Teddy Bears for Kids program.

TRA Executive Director Chris Cosentino and Trustee Prof. Robert "Jaimie" Orr attended the event, representing the organization's commitment to bringing comfort to hospitalized children.

On Friday, December 5th, the Theodore Roosevelt Association teamed up with Long Island University's NCAA Division I men's hockey team for their annual Teddy Bear Toss at Northwell Health Ice Center. With Joe Weigand in attendance as TR, the Sharks skated away with a big 8–3 win over Assumption University!

On December 9th, TRA Police Program Lead Eddie Scali had the joy of delivering Teddy Bears to the wonderful students at Nassau BOCES Carman Road School — a heartfelt initiative made possible by the incredible hospitality and support of the Massapequa Fire Department, especially Engine & Hose Company #5 and Rescue Company #3, who graciously opened their beautiful firehouse to host this event.

With a special assist from the brothers of Kappa Sigma Fraternity at Farmingdale State College, Santa Claus spread pure holiday magic — handing out cuddly Teddy Bears and bringing smiles to every child’s face.

On December 23rd, TRA Executive Director Chris Cosentino visited P.S. 152Q Gwendoline N. Alleyne School in Woodside, NY to read “The Camping Trip That Changed America” by Barb Rosenstock. After the students learned all about the adventures of TR and John Muir, the TRA surprised the class with Teddy Bears just in time for the Holidays!
