Historian presentation on William Sewall and Wilmot Dow at the Island Falls 150th Anniversary Celebration.<br /><br />Young Theodore Roosevelt first visited Island Falls in September 1878 with a cousin and two friends who previously had vacationed in the Mattawamkeag Lake region with W.W. “Bill” Sewall as guide. The Roosevelt Memorial Association placed a plaque in 1921. Roosevelt was a regular guest at the Sewall house until 1878.
