Theodore Roosevelt Association - 3rd Annual Book Prize
March 11, 2019—The Theodore Roosevelt Association is pleased to announce the third annual Theodore Roosevelt Association Book Prize. This annual cash award will be presented to the author of the best published book focusing primarily or substantially on Theodore Roosevelt. The recipient will be recognized at an event occurring in October 2019.
Dr. John A Gable Lecture Series
March 14, 2019— All TRA members and friends are invited to attend a Friends of Sagamore Hill event where Reginald Butt will speak about the founding of the American Legion 100 years ago and its accomplishments since then (TR Jr was a co-founder). Commander Butt will also talk about the founding of the local Oyster Bay post, Quentin Roosevelt Post #4. The lecture will be at 7:00 PM at Christ Church Parish Hall, 61 East Main Street, Oyster Bay; admission and light refreshments are free.
The Hutton House Lectures at Long Island University
March thru June, 2019— The attached describes scholarly lectures sponsored by the LIU School of Professional Studies that are scheduled March thru June at LIU/C.W. Post. Several lectures relate to Theodore Roosevelt and three are hosted by Tweed Roosevelt, Chair of the TR Institute at LIU, as well as Chief Executive Officer of the TRA.

December 17, 2018— The TRA is delighted to announce a great new annual program of which we can all be proud. Some of the sailors on our ship, USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71), do not have the resources to go home to visit their families, sometimes for years, for a variety of reasons.
Dr. John A. Gable Lecture Series
July 12, 2018— All TRA members and friends are invited to a Friends' of Sagamore Hill July 12th John A. Gable Lecture Series presentation about Quentin Roosevelt and WWI by Dr. John Staudt. Dr. Staudt teaches in the History Department of Hofstra University, is an expert on early American history, and a frequent lecturer. His talk will focus on the wartime service of Quentin during WWI. The talk commemorates the centennial of Quentin's death on July 14, 1918 and will describe his contributions as a pioneer who helped develop early American military aviation.

National War College-Theodore Roosevelt Award
2018 - The National War College (NWC) awarded the first Theodore Roosevelt Award sponsored by the TRA. Doris Kearns Goodwin Headlines Annual Meeting
September 20, 2013, Buffalo, NY—The Theodore Roosevelt Association (TRA) today through September 22 is celebrating its 94th Annual Meeting in Buffalo, the site in 1901 where Theodore Roosevelt became the 26th President of the U.S. The meeting, held in conjunction with the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural National Historic Site, has the theme Relevant Reflections. A panel of distinguished historians and authors will explore how hot-button issues of Theodore Roosevelt’s times still make headlines today. The Annual Meeting reflects the TRA’s interest in first-class scholarship about TR, his life, times, and legacy.
Theodore Roosevelt Association Celebrates National Teddy Bear Day with Gift of 400 Teddy Bears in Honor of Zoey Moonbeam Wahl
September 9, 2014, Oyster Bay, New York — The Theodore Roosevelt Association (TRA) today is celebrating National Teddy Bear Day by donating 400 teddy bears to children at hospitals nationwide in honor of Zoey Moonbeam Wahl, who died on May 31, 2014 at the age of 4. The bears will bring comfort and a touch of home to hospitalized children, in keeping with the wishes of Zoey’s family.
Nominations Sought for 11th Annual Theodore Roosevelt® Police Award
August 28, 2014, Washington, DC— The Capital Area Chapter of the Theodore Roosevelt Association is seeking nominations for its 11th annual Theodore Roosevelt® Police Award. The Theodore Roosevelt® Police Award honors a deserving law enforcement officer who has overcome a serious handicap, illness, or injury and continues to render outstanding and praiseworthy service to his or her department. The Police Chiefs Committee of the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments has endorsed this award.

This long-awaited change will enable us to better serve our members, attract new members, raise the visibility of the TRA, our programs and initiatives, and enhance our public education and outreach efforts. The Fight for Elkhorn
Theodore Roosevelt wrote those words three decades after his life-changing sojourn in Dakota Territory, where he went to recover from the tragic same-day deaths of his young wife and mother. Though Roosevelt spent only about 360 days from his first visit in 1883 until 1887, his time in Dakota Territory crucially shaped him as a person and influenced his philosophies and ideas about conservation.
